2 lbground beef
2 cfinely crushed soda crackers
1 cfinely chopped onion
·salt and pepper to taste
1 can(s)cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
How to Make Hamburg Steak aka Poor Man's Steak, Grandma's
- Mix all the ingredient together. Then press into a large flat pan. Cover pan with foil or plastic wrap. Let this set overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. When ready to bake cut in squares, dip each piece in flour and brown in a skillet with a little oil in it. Then put the browned pieces in a casserole.
- Make gravy by combining 1 can cream of mushroom soup mixed with 1 can water. Pour gravy mixture over meat pieces and bake slowly (325 degrees) for 2 hours or until meat is done.
- Grandma always served these with mashed potatoes and hot fresh yeast rolls.
