My first calzone's, they turned out a real hit with the family, hope y'all like them!! The rise time for the bread is the "prep time" for this recipe!

Ingredients For candi's calzone's

  • BREAD
  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1
    egg yolk
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    italian seasoning
  • 2 Tbsp
    packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    active dry yeast
  • 3 c
    bread flour
  • FILLING
  • pepperoni, pork sausage, any meat you desire!
  • 1 lg
    can diced tomatoes undrained
  • 10
    garlic cloves
  • 1 sm
    onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1/2 sm
    onion diced
  • 1 can
    6oz black olives diced
  • 1/2 lg
    red bell pepper diced
  • 5 md
    mushrooms diced
  • 1/2 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 Tbsp
    (heaping) parmesan cheese

How To Make candi's calzone's

    Warm milk and mix with all bread ingredients until it forms a dough ball. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour. run whole onions, garlic cloves and can tomatoes through food processor until liquid. put all filling ingredients accept 1/2 diced onion, mushrooms and olives into a pot, simmer for 30 minutes, remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients (accept cheeses), set aside.

    Roll dough out onto floured surface and knead about 5 minutes. Shape dough into 6 rectangle pieces

    Add cheeses to filling mixture until combined thoroughly. Spoon 1-2 heaping tablespoons into the middle of each piece of dough. Fold over filling and pinch edges with fork to seal.

    Place each calzone on greased baking sheet and cut 3 small slits in each for steam to escape. Cook in 350* oven for 20-25 minutes or until bred is golden brown, brush with garlic butter and let rest for 5-10 minutes, serve.
