Ingredients

  • 2 lb
    sirloin steak
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 6 oz
    mushrooms, sliced and drained
  • 2 can(s)
    condensed beef broth
  • 1/3 c
    instant minced onion
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 2 c
    sour cream
  • 8 oz
    egg noodles, medium
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter

How to Make Beef Stroganoff (Betty)

Step-by-Step

  1. Cut meat across the grain into 3/4-inch slices, then into strips 3 x 1/4 inch.
  2. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a large skillet.
  3. Cook and stir mushrooms in butter about 5 minutes, remove mushrooms.
  4. In same skillet, brown meat.
  5. Reserving 2/3 cup of broth, stir in remaining
    broth, the onion, ketchup and garlic salt.
  6. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
  7. Blend reserved broth and the flour; stir into meat.
  8. Add mushrooms; heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  9. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  10. Stir in sour cream, heat through.
  11. Cook noodles as directed on package; drain.
  12. Toss with 3 tablespoons butter.
  13. Serve with stroganoff.
