Ingredients

  • 2
    squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    sweetened applesauce
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    sifted all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    chopped pecans

How to Make Applesauce Fudgies

Step-by-Step

  1. Melt chocolate and butter together.
  2. Mix applesauce, eggs, sugar and vanilla.
  3. Sift dry ingredients into applesauce mixture.
  4. Stir until blended; add chocolate and stir well.
  5. Pour into greased 9 inch square pan.
  6. Sprinkle with pecans.
  7. Bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes.
  8. Cut in 2 inch squares; cool in pan on racks. Makes 16.
