Ingredients For tommy's homemade clam chowder

  • 6 can
    chopped and minced clams. works great if you have fresh too.
  • 6 slice
    applewood smoked bacon
  • 1
    medium sized onion
  • 4 stalk
    finely chopped celery
  • 1/2 c
    chopped matchstick carrots
  • 5
    medium sized red potatoes, chopped into 1/2 inch cubes (1 per person served)
  • 1 tsp
    celery salt
  • 2 tsp
    old bay seasoning
  • 1 qt
    chicken broth
  • 2 c
    heavy cream
  • 1/3 c
    white wine

How To Make tommy's homemade clam chowder

    In a large stock pan, add chopped bacon and cook until it starts to brown
  • 2
    Add onion to bacon cook until almost done
  • 3
    Add drained clams sauté for about a minute, then deglaze the pan with the white wine
  • 4
    Add the rest of the vegetables, stir fry for about 30 seconds then add the quart of chicken broth
  • 5
    cook until potatoes are done
  • 6
    When potatoes are done use a masher and roughly mash the potatoes
  • 7
    Add the cream and cook just until it starts to boil and you are done!
