Ingredients For maple flavored limas

  • 2 1/2 c
    dry lima beans
  • 2 qt
    water
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 4 slice
    bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 c
    maple flavored syrup
  • 1/2 c
    catsup
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    pepper
  • 1
    bay leaf

How To Make maple flavored limas

    Rinse dry lima beans. In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, combine beans and 2 quarts of water; bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

    Transfer to a bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    Drain beans; reserve 1 cup liquid. Combine beans, reserved bean liquid, chopped onions, bacon, maple flavored syrup, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Mix well.

    Pour mixture into crockpot. Cover, cook on low heat setting for 7 to 10 hours. Or, cover and cook on high heat setting for 3 1/2 to 5 hours.

    Remove bay leaf.
