This recipe reminds me of my wonderful grandmother, who is now in heaven. Of course, they didn't have crock pots back then! She made a split pea soup for me when I was working part-time in the summer. She only lived about 5 minutes from where I was working.

    split peas
  • 2
    ham hocks
  • 1
    carrot, diced
  • 1
    onion, diced
  • 1
    celery stalk, sliced
  • 2 qt
    water
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper

How To Make crockpot split pea soup

    1 Combine all ingredients in slow-cooking pot; cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. 2 Remove ham hocks; cut meat off, dice, and return meat to soup
