granannie's no-bake granola bars

I was looking for an easy granola bar recipe and couldn't find one I really liked. Soooo, again, I just made up my own. They are chewy and delicious.

Ingredients For granannie's no-bake granola bars

  • 1/4 c
    honey
  • 1/4 c
    margarine
  • 1/4 c
    peanut butter
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    butter flavoring
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 4 c
    quick oats
  • 1 c
    puffed rice cereal (rice krispies)
  • 1 c
    chocolate chips
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans

How To Make granannie's no-bake granola bars

    Line a 13x9x2 pan w/parchment paper. In a large saucepan cook honey, margarine, brown sugar and peanut butter until bubbling, cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in flavorings. Add oats, nuts and rice cereal. Stir well. Spread mixture in pan and press firmly with hands. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and press down gently. Chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes before cutting. Can be wrapped individually in saran wrap. Store in fridge. Will keep up to a week.
