I am so tired of store bought crackers, that I started looking for new ideas. I came across this recipe to "doctor" up saltines on Food.com. I changed it a little, and now I have the perfect cracker to serve with cheese and pepperoni. Goes well with dips, also. Enjoy!! My photos

Ingredients For fire crackers

  • 1 lb
    saltine crackers (4 sleeves)
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1
(1 ounce) packet ranch dressing mix
  • 2 Tbsp
crushed red pepper flakes (i used 1 tsp.) or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder

How To Make fire crackers

  • 1
Line crackers on ends (like dominoes) in an air-tight container.
  • 2
In a small bowl, mix oil, dressing mix, red pepper, and garlic powder.
  • 3
Stir until all ingredients are well mixed. Continue to stir to prevent the pepper from settling to the bottom of the bowl.
  • 4
Spoon mixture evenly over crackers, like drizzling icing on a cake.
  • crackers marinating in seasoned oil
    5
Close lid tightly and flip the container over every 5 minutes for about 20 minutes. Lightly shake back and forth to make sure all the crackers are coated.
  • 6
Store in a ziplock bag. Will keep for about a week - if they last that long.
