So, my husband's dad makes these, and they can't cook fast enough to keep up with the eaters. Husband eats these as a snack, like popcorn, and not so much as a side dish.

Ingredients For knecht flakes (aka a type of spaetzle)

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2
    eggs
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • fresh chives
  • butter
  • salt

How To Make knecht flakes (aka a type of spaetzle)

    Combine flour, eggs and milk to make a dough. Scoop dough up into a spoon and using a butter knife cut small pieces of the dough off into boiling water.

    Let dough boil until it floats to the top. Remove from water and drop directly into hot skillet that has melted butter in it.

    Fry dough until light brown. Remove to plate covered with a paper towel. Sprinkle with salt and diced chives. Serve hot.
