I almost always make these when people are coming over, but they also keep very well so it's easy to have a batch on hand in the pantry to pull out or give as a gift if needed.

Ingredients For spicy bourbon pecans

  • 1/4 c
    butter (1/2 stick)
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    bourbon or whiskey
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    tabasco sauce (or to taste)
  • 4 c
    pecan halves

How To Make spicy bourbon pecans

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 300.
  • 2
Combine butter, whiskey, tabasco, sugar, garlic powder, and salt in a large skillet or saucepan (it will need to be large enough to hold all the pecans in the next step). Stir over medium heat until butter is melted and everything is combined. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes.
  • 3
Turn off heat and add pecans to butter mixture. Stir until all pecans are well coated. Spread pecans in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet (some liquid will remain). I usually put a layer of foil down on the sheet to help with cleanup.
  • 4
Bake for 30 min or until crispy but not burnt, stirring occasionally. Allow to cool and serve or store in an airtight plastic container.
