i lov hush puppies but for some reason have never tried makin them til tonight....some i have tried have been cooked so hard others well......... i cam up with this recipe and only trouble i had was[and please help me out here] when i dropped batter into oil small pieces broke off on every one... so i had dots plus teaspoon size ones and idea why pieces came off.....these taste great and the whole pieces cooked up well...

Ingredients For hush puppies diane's way

  • 1 can
    corn kernels,canned
  • 1/2 md
    onion
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 2 Tbsp
    sour cream, lite
  • 1 1/3 c
    white cornmeal
  • 2/3 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    dried celery leaves
  • 1 tsp
    fresh black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • sea salt[sprinkle on after fryin]
  • oil[to fry in]

How To Make hush puppies diane's way

    take an open can of corn pour all into food processer,add onion,eggs,cold butter mix well add flour and corn meal mix well add spices and celery to sour cream pour that in now mix this well.put top on food processor and put in fridge for afternoon

    heat oil in deep fryer that is filled 1/2 full[ i used conolia oil][here is where the problem started for me] droped teaspoon at a time into oil[did 4 at a time] they dropped to bottom of pan yes flipped themselfs over when done and i took out of pan 3-4 min later nicely browned...

    sprinkle with small amount of sea salt let cool and enjoy!!!!

    served these with fried fish....need to use fryer more to get best results........but it all tasted good jus did not all look so great
