I made this last night based on a verbal recipe from my boyfriend which came from a friend of his. We were so excited about how good it tasted that I forgot to take a picture! The picture shown here is from chow.com. I will post my own pictures the next time I make it, which should be soon. 06-12-15

Ingredients For ellen's steamed asian broccoli

  • 1 md
    broccoli, bunch
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    tamari sauce, or 1-1/2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 pinch
    cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp
    sesame seeds, if desired

How To Make ellen's steamed asian broccoli

    Wash and cut the broccoli into florets and stems of a similar size, cutting away all the woody outer layer of the stalks.

    Cook the broccoli in a steamer for 5 minutes.

    Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt the butter. Add tamari sauce and stir until well blended. Add cornstarch to desired consistency, stirring with a wire whisk to prevent lumps.

    When the broccoli is done, spoon hot sauce over it and serve. You may like to add some toasted sesame seeds to sir into the mixture.
