This is my mother's traditional coveted and beloved Thanksgiving side dish. The kids love it! She always makes extras in "care package" containers to send home with each family to reheat later.

Ingredients For gram's sweet potato soufflé

  • POTATO MIXTURE
  • 4 c
    yams, cooked, peeled and mashed
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/3 stick
    butter, melted
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • TOPPING:
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/3 c
    butter, melted
  • 1 c
    pecans, in pieces

How To Make gram's sweet potato soufflé

    Combine all potato mixture ingredients and pour into a buttered 9 x 13 baking dish.

    Combine topping ingredients then crumble over potato mixture.

    Bake @ 350 degrees 35 - 40 minutes uncovered until bubbly and lightly browned on top.
