This was handed down through the German women of my family for many years and before it is forgotten I want to share it, so that it will live on. It was served during the holidays but quickly became as a side dish. Simple to make. An uncle of mine would come up from North Carolina during deer season and stop by my mom's home to get a hugh helping and then ask for some in a bowl to take with him for his hunting trip.
