I take this to summer pitch-ins for something different. It is a fun twist on slaw and the ramen noodles and almonds provide a great texture against the cabbage.

Ingredients For oriental slaw

  • 1 lb
    cabbage, shredded
  • 2 pkg
    ramen noodles
  • 1 pkg
    almonds, slivered (2 ounces)
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    vinegar
  • 1 c
    oil
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 2
    green onions, chopped

How To Make oriental slaw

  • 1
    Remove seasoning packets from ramen noodles and set aside.

    Crumble ramen noodles.

    In a skillet, over medium heat, cook noodles and almonds in butter until lightly browned. Set aside.

    Combine vinegar, oil, sugar, soy sauce, and season packets from ramen noodles in a jar. Close, shake well, then refrigerate.

    Immediately before serving, toss together noodle mixture, dressing, onions and cabbage.
