A great little addition to a nature loving friends basket. Great for the birds that stay the winter. This one is so fun. Not only do the birds get a treat in the winter months but you get a chance to show your decorating skills. A little paint or maybe an old card or magazine can be used to make this gift special

Ingredients For bird treats in a jar

    quick-cooking oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3/4 c
    sunflower seed (i use the ones w/o the hulls
  • 1 c
    millet bird seed
  • 3/4 c
    cornmeal
  • 3/4 c
    all-purpose flour

    Layer first 4 ingredients. oatmeal, brown sugar, whole sunflower seeds and millet birdseed in a one quart wide mouth jar, set aside. Combine cornmeal and flour, layer on top, packing down firmly. Secure lid and attach following instructions: .

    Winter bird treats To Prepare * 1 cup creamy peanut butter * 1/2 cup water . INSTRUCTIONS: . Place mix in a medium bowl, add 1 cup creamy peanut butter and 1/2 cup water.mix well. Spread in an ungreased 13x9 pan --. Score into 4" x 2" squares. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes. Set aside to cool. Cut into bars. Hang these in suet feeders or onion sacks. Birds love them.
