home-made powdered sugar

I was wanting to make some cookies and needed some powdered sugar to coat the cookie dough. Alas I was out so I googled "home made powdered sugar" and tried it and it works. I had my powdered sugar and was able to continue with my cookie recipe. The cookies came out great.

Ingredients For home-made powdered sugar

  • 1 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornstarch or arrowroot

How To Make home-made powdered sugar

    Place the sugar and either cornstarch or arrowroot into your blender
  • 2
    Blend on high continuously until the mixture is of uniform powdered consistency. In a high-powered blender like the Vitamix this will take only about 30 seconds.

    Keep the lid on the blender until the powder settles (or you might have powdered-sugar coated cabinets, depending on how much of a powdered-sugar cloud gets kicked up by your blender

    During the blending process you may have to stop and stir the bottom as some of the sugar may not get blended completely.
