I hesitated to post this. It seems too simple and not really a recipe per se. Anyway, when I was a freshman in college [967/68.]. The cafeteria would serve grilled cheese sandwiches with a thick tomato slice in the middle. As all our fare, ,This was always unannounced. so I was not expecting this disgusting surprise.[sorry, I don't like cooked or even warm tomatoes except in sauces.] So, I thought; what would I like in the middle of a grilled cheese sandwich, if anything? I immediately thought of meat of some kind/ This is the result. Hope you find it tasty. Don

Ingredients For turkey-stuffed grilled cheese sandwich

  • 2 slice
    your favorte bread
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 2-4 slice
    american or your choice cheese
  • 1/2 lb
    thinly sliced deli turkey

How To Make turkey-stuffed grilled cheese sandwich

  • 1
    Liberally spread butter/margarine on one side of each slice of bread. Place bread slices buttered side down in a cold skillet or on cold griddle

    place 1-2 slices cheese on top of each slice of bread. Place half of turkey in center of cheese xlices on top of bread slices.gradually increase heat under skillet/griddle. When cheese starts to melt carefully invert one slice of bread w/cheese & turkey and place on top of other slice of bread so that the cheese/turkey sides are together.Continue grilling sandwich; turning often untilgolden brown. Serve warm with desired sides. Feel free to experiment with various deli meat/cheeses and see which combinations you like best!!
