Ingredients For marco polos

    english muffin, halves
  • 1 lb
    thinly sliced ham
  • 1 lb
    thinly sliced turkey
  • 1
    tomato, sliced
  • 1/2
    onion, thinly sliced
  • 1- 10 oz. pkg
    broccoli spears, cooked and drained ( can use 2 pkgs.)
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 c
    milk or half & half
  • 1-1 1/2 c
    cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • paprika, to sprinkle on top

How To Make marco polos

  • 1
    Butter each muffin half and arrange on a cookie sheet. Broil to toast.

    On each muffin, arrange ham slice, turkey, onion, tomato and 1-2 stalks broccoli. ( I don't use the onion)
  • 3
    To make cheese sauce, melt butter in saucepan, stir in flour, then milk stirring until thickened. Add cheddar cheese and salt; stir until melted.

    Pour hot cheese sauce over warmed sandwiches ( warm 10 minutes in a covered pan at 325 degrees), then sprinkle with paprika.

    Sandwiches can also be heated in the microwave after the cheese sauce has been poured over them.
