This recipe evolved from a recipe from a friend. I have changed ingredients in attempt to reduce the calorie and fat content and still retain the flavor.

Ingredients For fried cabbage

  • cabbage
  • turkey ham
  • seasonings
  • opt. celery, carrots, onions

How To Make fried cabbage

  • 1
Thinly slice a 1/2 head of small cabbage. Cube 8 to 10 oz. of turkey ham. Put the ham in a small amount of water in a large frying pan, bring to a boil and add the cabbage with any seasonings you like. I add black pepper, celery salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly. You may need to add a little oil (I use olive oil) to the pan as it cooks down. A non stick pan is a help in cooking this. Stir occassionally until the cabbage is cooked to your taste and slightly browned. I have also added thinly sliced onions, celery and carrots with the cabbage in place of some of the seasonings when time allows. You can use kielbasa or any other meat. I use the turkey ham for less calories and fat. I have 2 meals with this amount. Increase for additional servings and/or serve with accompaniements.
