This is a recipe from my Gram...only change I made is I double the sauce...delicious! Enjoy!

Ingredients For ham balls in orange glaze

  • 1 lb
    ground ham - i took a package of ham chunks and shred in my food processor
  • 1/2- 3/4 lb
    ground pork
  • 1 - 1 1/2 c
    crushed cracker crumbs - i use a whole sleeve of crackers
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried mustard
  • 1/2 c
    minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • GLAZE - CAN HALVE RECIPE, I DOUBLE, AS WE LOVE THE SAUCE AND I FREEZE LEFTOVERS - RECIPE IS FOR SINGLE BATCH
  • 1/3 - 1/2 c
    packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp
    each - dried mustard & ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 c
    orange juice
  • some minced red or green peppers - optional

How To Make ham balls in orange glaze

    Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with non stick cooking spray. Set aside In a bowl, add the ground ham, pork, onion, mustard, eggs, crackers, salt, pepper and milk - mix well.

    Make balls about the size of a golf ball and place in prepared dish. It's okay if touching.

    Place on oven for 30 minutes or until firm and browning some.

    While ham balls bake, make the glaze. In a dutch oven or large saucepan - mix brown sugar, mustard,cloves and cornstarch. Over medium heat, stir in the orange juice, whisk until well blended and continue cooking until sauce thickens.

    When ham balls are finished baking, drain if need be. Place in the sauce and simmer for 15 minutes.

    Serve hot. I've also prepared these ahead and kept warm for parties in crock pot on low setting.
