Last Saturday here in Ohio we went to a local lake where they had a Polar Plunge event. We watched my sweet friend Kaycee and her team jump into icy lake waters to raise money for the Special Olympics. Even a lady who was 85 yrs young participates every year for this great cause....such dedication! Then we drove to Cleveland along with friends for some fun snow tubing. It was my Alumni Hiram College annual event & afterwards in the lodge we had the best chili hot dogs & fries that warmed us all. I just had to come home an recreate that sauce!

How To Make kim's hot dog chili sauce

  • 1
Brown your Italian sausage & ground beef and drain any excess grease. Then place in a large bowl. I put 2 teaspoons of chili powder on the meat while I was cooking it. Add all your canned ingredients except beans to Ninja Cooking System or Crock pot along with the browned meat. Use an emulsion hand blender to make this sauce finer in consistency.
  • 2
Add your water to the mixture, chopped onion and peppers and stir. Add the rest of your seasoning and let it cook down for a couple hours. Rinse and drain your kidney beans and add at any time. Taste to see if you need anymore seasoning.
  • 3
Grill your hot dogs and toast the buns and assemble with some delicious sauce.
  • 4
This chili sauce has a nice heat to it because of the cayenne & variety of chili powders.
