oysters and wild rice casserole

Ingredients For oysters and wild rice casserole

  • 3 c
    wild rice, cooked
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • 16 oz
    oysters, drained
  • 1/3 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    thyme
  • 1/4 tsp
    sage
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt, optional
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 stick
    butter
  • 2 c
    celery, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    onions, chopped
  • butter cracker crumbs

How To Make oysters and wild rice casserole

    While rice is cooking according to package directions, brown onions and celery in butter.

    Remove from heat and add milk, flour, salt, sage, thyme and black pepper; add well-drained rice to mixture.

    Pour into 2-quart casserole.

    Drain oysters and let soak in lukewarm, melted butter over rice mixture and spread the oysters evenly.

    Top with cracker crumbs.

    Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until oysters curl.
