I have been making this since about the 80's. my neighbor used to make me plum jelly for my sauce. friends and family that don't like fish, love this. hope you will enjoy this as much as we do.. delish... xoxo

Ingredients For oriental fish

  • plum sauce. recipe to follow
  • 1 lb
    fish filets, your choice
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 1/2 c
    bread crumbs, dry
  • 1 Tbsp
    sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1/4 tsp
    ginger powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    sesame oil
  • PLUM SAUCE
  • 1/4 c
    plum jam,
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp
    onion powder

How To Make oriental fish

    make plum sauce; cover and chill. Cut fish fillets into 4 pieces. In shallow dish stir together egg and water. In another dish combine bread crumbs, sesame seed, and ginger.

    Dip fish in egg mixture to coat, roll is bread crumb mixture, coating evenly. In a large skillet heat oils. Add fish. Cook over medium heat about 3 minutes per side or till fish flakes easily. Serve with Plum sauce.

    plum sauce: in a small saucepan combine 1/4 cup plum jam or jelly. Add one tbsp. apple vinegar, 1 tbsp. soy sauce, 1/2 teas. cornstach, and 1/4 teas.onion powder. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Remove from heat and cool. I use cod or haddock, any good white fish will be great. hope you will try it. xoxoxo.
