My brother Tom use to love to fish and to eat the fish fresh! This was his recipe.

Ingredients For fishin' trip trout

  • 3 lb
    cleaned trout (tails, fins and heads removed)
  • 2 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/3 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 2 - 3
    lemons (cut into very thin slices and wedges)
  • 1 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt

How To Make fishin' trip trout

  • 1
    Put milk, pepper and salt in a zipper bag. Give it a couple of shakes. Add the trout, seal bag and put in cool spot for 10 - 15 minutes.

    Melt butter in iron skillet over campfire. Dip trout in the flour to coat well. Put trout in skillet and brown trout on both sides. Put lemon on the trout and coat both sides. Put several thin lemon slices in bottom of skillet, put trout on top. Move skillet to a milder heat and continue cooking for 8-10 minutes or until flaky.
