Ingredients For beer battered fish and chips

  • 2-4 md
    potatoes, scrubbed and cut into fingers
  • 1 lb
    fish filets, your choice
  • 1 can
    (12 oz) beer, your choice
  • 1 md
    egg, beaten until fluffy
  • 2/3 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    oil
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    flour, for dipping
  • oil, for deep frying

How To Make beer battered fish and chips

  • 1
    pat potatoes and fish dry with paper towels. while potatoes are frying, prepare batter for fish.

    to prepare batter, mix together beer, egg, milk and oil. add baking powder, cayenne pepper, salt and flour all at once, mixing only enough to dampen the dry ingredients.

    remove potato chips from the oil with slotted spoon, drain on paper towels and season to taste.

    coat fish pieces in flour before dipping fish in batter and place in hot oil to deep fry. cook until golden, about 6 minutes. remove from oil with slotted spoon, drain on paper towels.
