baked haddock chowder

I didn't feel like peeling and cooking potatoes,cutting onions etc so I got out my slicer. family loved it,especially with less milk/cream as chowder. I will wait until potatoes almost done next before adding fish. I think anyone can add or omit..it was just a idea that turned out tasty

Ingredients For baked haddock chowder

  • pkg. slice
    lean salt pork
  • 6-8 lg
    potatoes,unpeeled,sliced thin
  • 2 lg
    onions sliced thin
  • 1 can
    evaporated milk
  • Tbsp
    flour,or corn starch
  • pinch
    salt and pepper
  • 4-6 slice
    butter patty's
  • 1-2 lb
    fresh haddock/ or your choice

How To Make baked haddock chowder

  • 1
    lay sliced salt pork on botton of large baking dish,then continue to layer sliced potatoes,sliced onions. top with a few slices of butter.

    whisp flour and milk together until nice and smooth. add salt and pepper to taste. Pour over all.

    cover with foil. bake for 1/2 hr then add fish on top of all, replace foil. check several times until potatoes are fork tender and fish is done.
