white castle casserole

Recipe by

Toledo, OH

My husband grew up outside Columbus, Oh and loves White castle Hamburgers, since Toledo doesn't have a franchise here I went online to find a recipe. I found a casserole recipe which I tried, and after after tinkering with it decided this was just about right. My son and his family gave this a thumbs up and so did my husband. I like to serve it with fries and chili for them and onion rings and wedding italian soup for me. My daughter-in-law and grandsons aren't big on mustard so I put ketchup on 1/2 of casserole for them. I like cheddar cheese but to be accurate you should use american.

How To Make white castle casserole

  • 1
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 12 pan or use parchment so nothing sticks and you get an easy clean up.
  • 2
Lightly brown beef (don't over brown or it will become over done after baking) drain.
  • 3
Add onion soup packets to beef and mix well adding a little water if need to make sure soup is combined with beef but not enough to make it slushy. You want it the consistency of a moist burger.
  • 4
Roll out 1 can of either your pizza dough, crescent rolls or crescent roll sheets so they are about 1/2 the thickness they originally are, you don't want all dough no filling, and lay in you dish.
  • 5
Spread meat mixture on dough, cover with cheese, add pickles and drizzle with mustard.
  • 6
Roll out second tube of dough just like first, and lay on top of mixture.
  • 7
Bake until top is golden brown about 20-30 minutes. let rest about 5 minutes. Note-This is not a creamy casserole it is like eating a burger.
