I've eaten tortas and I wasn't a big fan of the bread that was being used (French). The bread is too thick and I couldn't taste the filling. This is my version of the torta.

Ingredients For torta de carne asada

  • 1/4 c
    sliced onions
  • 1 Tbsp
    lime juice
  • 1 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    mexican oregano
  • 1 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1
    serrano pepper minced
  • 1/2 lb
    thinly sliced tenderized chuck
  • 1/4 c
    cilantro, fresh minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil, extra virgin
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2
    avocado
  • 1 Tbsp
    ricotta cheese
  • 1
    wheat thin rounds

How To Make torta de carne asada

    In a medium heated skillet add olive oil, onions, and garlic. Saute until slightly translucent, add meat, lime juice, serrano pepper, chili powder, oregano, salt/pepper, and cumin. Cook to your liking(medium-rare etc).

    Place wheat thin round halves on a cookie sheet and heat in oven until crisp.

    Add asada strips on each halve with ricotta cheese, avocado, and serve.
