This recipe has been around my family for, at least, fifty years. In fact, that's how long ago it was when my ex-sister-in-law gave it to me. Who knows how long she'd had it. It easy, requires few ingredents, and it's fast. Enjoy!

Ingredients For sloppy joes-connie style

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1
    green pepper- chopped (can use yellow or orange if you prefer)
  • 1
    large onion, chopped
  • 1 large pkg
    portabella or button mushrooms. sliced- we prefer portabellas
  • 1/2 tsp
    sea salt, smoked if you have it
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper, ground
  • hot sauce to taste
  • 1/2 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 small can
    tomato sauce
  • 1 pkg
    favorite hamburger buns, we like the onion ones
  • 2 clove
    garlic, diced

How To Make sloppy joes-connie style

  • 1
    Saute onions, garlic and green pepper five minutes on medium or till translusent.

    Add sliced mushrooms.
  • 3
    Add ground chuck and saute 8 minutes on medium.
  • 4
    Add hot sauce, worchester sauce, salt and pepper.
  • 5
    Add 2 small cans of tomatoe sauce.

    Cook 15 minutes.

    Serve on your favorite bun.
