My mother found this recipe about 40 years ago when recipes used to be printed on the back of matchbooks. This is a family favorite. Our daughter now makes it for her family and her 3 kids (all under 6)love this. My husband and I love it with either a baked potato, squash, or au gratin potatoes and a salad.

Ingredients For dutch meatloaf

  • 1 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 c
    fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped (can use less, or to taste)
  • 1 can
    8 oz. tomato sauce (reserve 1/2 cup)
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    prepared mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    white vinegar

How To Make dutch meatloaf

  • 1
    Lightly mix ground beef, crumbs, onion, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, egg and seasonings. Shape into loaf in shallow pan. Combine reserved tomato sauce with the brown sugar, mustard and vinegar. Pour over loaf. Bake at 350 for 1-1/4 hour.
