This recipe is one of my Hubby's favorites. If you are not fortunate enough to have venison you may use beef for this recipe. This is a Heart Healthy recipe that I have been serving to family and friends for years.

Ingredients For cranberry venison

  • 1 can
    cranberry sauce (jellied)
  • 1 pkg
    onion soup mix
  • 1/2 c
    italian salad dressing
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    malt or cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    mrs dash seasoning
  • 1/2 c
    onion (chopped)
  • 8 oz
    mushrooms (chopped)
  • 2 16 0z can
    chicken or beef broth
  • 2 lb
    venison

How To Make cranberry venison

  • 1
    Rinse meat, cut into small peices, place in bottowm of 3 Quart Crockpot.

    Chop mushrooms and onions. Place them on top of meat in crockpot.

    Mix all other ingredients in bowl until all items are well blended. Pour this mixture over food in crockpot.

    Place lid on crockpot. Cook on High for two hours. Cook on low for six hours until meat is done. OR - You could cook this on low for eight or nine hours (overnight) as I often do, eliminating the need to change the temperature.

    Serve over warm rice with your favorite vegetables and rolls.
