I loved the idea of wassail -- spiced apple warm goodness, who wouldn't? So I had my husband do an internet search years ago for wassail with cinnamon sticks and no alcohol. This is what he came up with (no idea on the original site). Recently, since I've become cider-intolerant, I tried using apple juice and that worked well. Also, you can mix the dry stuff ahead of time and haul crock-pot, apple drink, and dry mix safely to the party, potluck, or whatever.

Mix first 7 ingredients together. Can be made ahead of time, refrigerated, then mix with cider half an hour ahead of time (longer is better, though). Do as follows:
  • 2
Take mix and pour into crock pot. Pour some cider into mix container, close, and shake to remove brown sugar sediment / spices. Pour into crock pot. Continue till mix is as fully removed as possible. Fill to top of crock pot. Unless the crockpot is extra big, all the cider won't fit, but it can be stored in the refrigerator and used to "refill" the crock pot when it gets half-full.
