This liqueur, with its smooth, fruity apricot flavor has been a long time favorite. As an added bonus, the apricots left from the liqueur make a superb ice cream topping or addition to a compote.

Ingredients For apricot brandy

  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 pounds dried apricots
  • 2 fifths vodka

How To Make apricot brandy

    Bring sugar and water to boil in small pan, stirring often. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes or til sugar is dissolved. Cool to room temperature. Put the apricots in 1 or 2 large glass jars. Add sugar syrup and vodka, stirring to blend. Cover tightly and store in cool dark place for at least 1 month, turning or shaking the jar every week. Before serving, strain liquid. It may be stored, at room temperature for up to 3 months. Refrigerate it for longer storage. Makes about 6 cups Season’s Greetings
