Ingredients For cherry french bread pudding

  • 2 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4 c
    day old french bread, cut into 3/4 in cubes
  • 2 can
    queen anne cherries (drained)
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • cinnamon, mixed with sugar
  • whipped cream, sweetened (optional)

How To Make cherry french bread pudding

  • 1
    Heat the milk and butter until hot but do not boil. Set aside.

    Beat eggs, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla and salt together.

    Gradually add the milk to the egg mixture.

    Pour over the bread and let stand 30 minutes.

    Spread cherries over the bottom of a 9" buttered square pan.

    Pour the bread mixture over the cherries.
  • 7
    Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until tester in center comes out clean.

    Cool slightly and serve with whipped cream, if desired.
