This has been one of my favorite 'go to' recipes for years. The fennel seeds really gives it that something extra.

Ingredients For skillet pasta

  • 2 c
    tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    onion, chopped
  • 3
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 can
    (8oz.) tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp
    italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp
    fennel seed, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 8 oz
    rigatoni pasta, cooked, drained
  • 2 c
    (8oz.) mozzarella cheese, low-moisture part skim, shredded

How To Make skillet pasta

  • 1
    Cook rigatoni according to package directions.

    Cook and stir tomatoes, onion and garlic in oil in large skilled 4 minutes or until onion is tender.

    Stir in tomato sauce and seasonings. Cook over low heat 4 minutes longer.

    Add cooked rigatoni, mix lightly. Cook 2 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

    Top with cheese; cover. Cook 1 minutes or until cheese is melted.

    *Variation: Substitute mostaccioli or ziti for rigatoni.
