Ingredients For shoo- fly pie

  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    molasses
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/3 c
    boiling water
  • 2/3 c
    cold water
  • CRUMB MIXTURE
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2/3 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 c
    shortening/lard
  • 1 UNBAKED PIE SHELL
  • 1 c
    brown sugar goes into the bottom ingredients, for some reason i couldn't get it to go with the eggs,water, molasses

How To Make shoo- fly pie

    Bottom Part: Begin by stirring the egg into 1 cup brown sugar. Add the molasses. Dissolve the baking soda in the boiling water. Add the cold water, then combine with the sugar and egg mixture.Add the warm water mixture, stirring well. Pour into an unbaked 9 inch pie shell.

    Crumbs: Cut the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and shortening together until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of the Bottom Part.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake 50 minutes longer or until done.
