Another one of mom's recipes that I thought was perfect....until I discovered a trick to make it even better.

Ingredients For no-fail flaky pie crust

  • 4 c
    all purpose flour-from the freezer
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 3/4 c
    vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 c
    water, warm
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vinegar

How To Make no-fail flaky pie crust

    PLACE YOUR FLOUR IN THE FREEZER THE NIGHT BEFORE. I know this may sound strange, but it is key in making this crust amazing!

    In a small bowl, beat the water, egg and vinegar together; set aside. Measure the flour in a large bowl; mix in salt.

    Cut the shortening into flour mixture until crumbly and add the wet ingredients. Mix well (I use my hands), divide into 4 and roll into balls. Roll out crust and make the pie of your liking!
