This recipe was in the first cookbook our church published. The lady who submitted this recipe has since passed away, but it is a staple in my family. My mother has made a few minor changes :) The recipe below is what my mother makes.

Ingredients For chocolate pie

9" pie shell baked
2 c

milk
1 1/2 c

sugar
1/3 c

flour
2

eggs
1/4 c

cocoa powder
1 tsp

vanilla
2 Tbsp

butter
pinch

salt

How To Make chocolate pie

Scald 1 1/2 Cups of Milk. Mix Sugar, Cocoa, Flour, Salt, and Eggs. Stir in 1/2 C cold Milk. Pour mixture into scalded Milk. Add Butter & Vanilla to Mix while cooking

Cook and stir until thickened. Pour into pie shell & cool

Can be topped with Meringue
