easy powdered beignets

Make a Mardi Gras stew and then serve these to keep it in the special season. These are very easy to make, but so delicious!

Ingredients For easy powdered beignets

  • 1 lb
    loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1/4 c
    plus 1 tbsp powdered sugar, divided
  • 2 c
    canola oil, for frying

How To Make easy powdered beignets

    In bowl, combine dough and 1 tbsp powdered sugar, mix well, by kneading the sugar into the dough.

    Lightly flour a cutting board. W/ a rolling pin, roll out dough into an 8" x 20" rectangle. Cut into 2"-squares.

    Heat oil in lg, deep skillet over medium heat until hot. Add dough squares, a few at a time and fry about 30 seconds each side. Or until golden. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle beignets w/ remaining powdered sugar.
