I'm not a big fan of cooked apple, but I ate this whenever Mum made it.

Ingredients For mum's apple crisp

  • 4 md
    tart cooking apples, sliced (4 cups) (granny smith, northern spy, mcintosh)
  • 2/3 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    quick cooking oats (or old fashioned oats)
  • 1/3 c
    butter (or margarine) softened
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1 scoop
    vanilla ice cream (optional)

How To Make mum's apple crisp

  • 1
    Heat oven to 375ºF. Grease bottom and sides of square pan, 8x8x2 (or 2 qt. casserole). Arrange apples in pan.

    Mix remaining ingredients except ice-cream. Sprinkle over apples.

    Bake about 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender. Serve warm with ice-cream
