create-a-crust apple custard dessert

Recipe by

I added this recipe to my recipe collection many years ago,& never got around to making it until yesterday. Because I had the apples that I needed to use before spoiling. The basic recipe was in a FAVORITE BRAND NAME COOKBOOK. I did make a few minor adjustments, but nothing that would compromise the integrity of the recipe. It was called a pie, but I thought this dessert was more like an Apple Custard or Pudding, & with the minor changes I made hence the given name. I like that it is simple easy & cooks quickly, & easy to prepare, & the ingredients are readily available. We loved it.

How To Make create-a-crust apple custard dessert

  • 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. These are most of the main ingredients used in this recipe.
  • 2
Peel and slice apples. Add to a medium size bowl. Add in the lemon Juice concentrate, or frozen lemonade. Stir until it coats all of the apples.
  • 3
Add the 2 tablespoons of Bisquick to the apples and stir until apples are completely coated.
  • 4
    Butter a baking dish.
  • 5
I started with a 9 inch pie plate but had to switch to a 9X9 size baking pan to accommodate all of the liquid ingredients.
  • 6
Arrange the apples in bottom of baking dish, sprinkle apples with half teaspoon each of nutmeg and cinnamon, then set aside while you blend the other ingredients together.
  • 7
Add the remaining ingredients, bisquick, condensed milk, water or apple juice, large eggs, softened butter, and vanilla bean paste or extract and remaining spices, to a medium bowl, and beat together till blended about 3 minutes. THEN ALLOW TO REST FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES before you pour over the apples.
  • 8
Pour liquid ingredients carefully over the apples, then place in preheated 350 degree oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until golden brown around edges and top.
  • 9
Serve warm or chilled with your favorite ice cream if desired.
