This brings back memories of my grandma Allie making these for us as kids. I finally combined a couple of recipes that taste like Mama Allie's. This has been a hit with my business Special Katering. This week I'm shipping some to VA and CA!!! Hope you enjoy them!!!!

Ingredients For tea cake recipe

  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c
    milk

How To Make tea cake recipe

  • Cream butter and sugar

    In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth
  • Add eggs one at a time.

    Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla
  • Combine flour, baking soda, salt ,and nutmeg in separate bowl.

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  • Spoon onto greased cookie sheet

    Spoon 1/4 inch thick. Place cookies 1 1/2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes don't over bake , when edges are brown they are ready, I brown them a little on broil but you must watch them.

    Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely .
