I was looking for cupcakes in my grandmother's depression cookbook to make something for my nephew, and found a recipe for "filled cupcakes". It was from scratch, but I just bought a devil's food cake mix, frosting and marshmallows.

Ingredients For filled cupcakes

  • 1 box
    cake mix, devils food
  • 1 can
    chocolate frosting
  • 1 pkg
    large marshmallows

How To Make filled cupcakes

    Follow instructions on cake mix for cupcakes.

    While still hot, cut a square out of the center of the cupcakes and place a marshmallow in the hole. Cover with cake that you removed. Place back in the warm oven to melt marshmallows.

    Let cool and frost with chocolate frosting.
