I submitted this recipe in our family cookbook about 30 years ago. These cookies were among some of my earliest recipes that I baked.

Ingredients For refrigerator cookies

  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 lg
    egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp
    soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make refrigerator cookies

  • 1
    Cream butter and sugars together; Add egg.
  • 2
    Add remaining ingredients to flour, then Add to sugar mixture.
  • 3
    Form in rolls, Wrap in waxed paper and Chill (8 hours or overnight until firm).

    Slice and Bake in 400 degree oven until light brown.
