So easy to put together.You could use another flavor of preserves if you like.Also you don't need eggs!

Ingredients For old fashioned strawberry oatmeal squares

  • 2 cups c
    rolled oats
  • 1 c
    softened butter
  • 1 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 3/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 1 c
    strawberry preserves

How To Make old fashioned strawberry oatmeal squares

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.Grease a 13/9 inch baking pan.

    Combine all ingredients except preserves in a large mixing bowl using your clean hands or a fork.Until it is crumbly.Do not over mix.

    Press all but 2 cups in bottom of greased pan.Carefully spread preserves on top.Crumble remaining mixture on top of Strawberry preserves.

    Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 25 minutes,until golden brown.Cut in to squares while still warm,then cool completely.For a nice touch sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
