This has long been a favorite cookie of mine and I have tweaked the original recipe just a tad because I prefer milk chocolate chips over semi-sweet. To each his own. Enjoy! Recipe: Bettycrocker.com Photos: Mine

Ingredients For oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies

  • 1 1/2 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1 c
    (two sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1
    egg
  • 2 c
    quick cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    milk chocolate chips (may use semi-sweet if you prefer)
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans, if desired

How To Make oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies

    In a large bowl, stir brown sugar and butter together until blended. Add vanilla and egg and beat until light and fluffy.

    Stir in oats, flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.

    Add chocolate chips and nuts. Stir until thoroughly combined.

    Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.

    Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet to wire rack.
