How To Make molasses sugar cookies

Melt shortening in a 3-4 qt. saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool. Add sugar, molasses, and egg, beat well. Sift together soda, salt, flour, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon. Add to first mixture. Mix well and chill. Form into balls, roll in sugar, and place on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
