These are great Polish cookies, my family and friends enjoy them, they are so good. This is my Grandmothers recipe. We make these for all the holidays.

Ingredients For kolacky

  • 4 c
    all purpose flour/sifted twice
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1 c
    margarine softened
  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4 can
    solo filling(i use cherry, apricot,strawberry and blueberry
  • 3 c
    powdered sugar ,

How To Make kolacky

  • 1
    sift 4 cups of flour twice and set aside
  • 2
    mix together butter, margarine and sour cream,add vanilla extract, add flour one cup at a time until well blended,.make 4 balls of dough wrap in waxed paper and chill several hours or overnight

    preheat oven to 425 degrees, on a floured table or pastry sheet,roll out dough one ball at a time, into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick, cut in to 2 inch squared, place 1 heaping teaspoon of fruit filling in center of each square, bring corners into the middle of the square and pinch together, place on cookie sheet lined with foil or parchment paper, bake for about 15 to 20 minuets, until lightly browned, cool on rack and dust with powdered sugar on top, (don't roll out dough more than once, as your kolakys will be brittle instead of light and flakey)
